Seminar Three: Contemporary Experience of Youth
In this weeks seminar, I want you to carry out some research in to the 'contextual' conditions of youth experience. By this, I mean the conditions that might be used to explain youth related criminological concerns , but not actually crime itself.
In short, this is what I want you to do:
1. Organise yourselves in small groups (3's or 4's).
2. Identify a detailed and relevant topic from one of the following areas:
3. Carry out some internet based research to help you identify the position of young people, and any changes over the past 30-50 years. The aim is to try and arrive at the extent to which these changes are due to
age effects
period effects
cohort effects (the lecture addresses these).
4. Present your findings in a 1-2 page document emailed to your seminar tutor. Include your names and seminar time, please, in the email.
