Unit Announcements

The seminars from here on in are based around the second piece of coursework. The following are strong suggestions of a useful timetable for your work:

                       Coursework Signposts

2nd March

Identified a social problem, and an area of intervention

Sketch out a theory of change

9th March

Collecting research /evaluation evidence relating to the intervention

16th March

Begin to Analyse and Assess evidence - identify commonalities and differences across the types of interventions, and their effects

23rd March

Be able to summarise your work verbally (though not yet written it up)

The seminars on these dates will address these areas, but will be "student-led" ie. Chris and I will NOT have prepared any material: we will spend the time discussing issues that you raise.

Advice Sheet for Coursework 2 (due 20th April)

You can access the coursework advice sheet for the second piece of coursework  HERE . The evaluation seminar guidance is also worth reading: Evaluation Seminar Outline and Guidance.doc (this refers to Home Office "British Experience of Scared Straight"  ). There is also a new link at the top of this page to "Useful Online Links for Coursework Two".

Coursework One

The coursework marks and feedback are ready, and you should have received the feedback sheets through your MMU student email account. THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED NOW - IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS: PLEASE EMAIL ME, AND I WILL BE ABLE TO SEND YOUR FEEDBACK TO YOU.

Advice for the first piece of coursework can be found HERE. Please note that despite what it says in the Unit Outline, the word length for the assessments is 2500 words. Chris has also prepared a powerpoint presentation that is useful: it is availableHERE
